LFD/310/002 PWM Cockpit Panel Dimmer Unit

The PWM cockpit panel dimmer unit is designed for aircraft cockpit instrument consoles fitted with LED backlit panels.

Panels are dimmed using a 400Hz pulse width modulation technique.

Each type of panel may require a different drive algorithm.

Each panel needs to be balanced to ensure it is illuminated at the required level relative to the other panels on the console.

Each panel (or group of panels) needs to be dimmable by the aircrew.

This remote dimmer unit has been designed to be programmable, having the following functions:

1. Up to ten input dimmer pots (one for each of nine panels plus a master for all panels).
2. Up to nine panel groups.
3. Any panel can be set to any algorithm.
4. An RS232 connection for remote programming using a PC. The dimmer unit, using the RS232 programming input, can be configured for any combination of 1, 2 or 3 above.
